Foothills SNAPS says "Thank You"
On December 9, 2007 a wonderful
event was hosted in Okotoks at the
The Okotoks 5th Annual Charity Concert went off without a hitch. Once again there were exemplary musicians and singers volunteering to the success of the concert.
Donna Kay once again produced this wonderful event with her friends joining to perform and entertain the crowd. It was a full house with greetings coming from the deputy Mayor of Okotoks and from Minister George Groeneveld as well as attendance by Mr. Don Severs, from Minister Melchin’s office.
The hosts of this event Foothills Special Needs Association for Parents and Siblings were honored to have all of the volunteers and special guests to assist in the awareness that this charity brings to the community.
The Foothills Fetal Alcohol Society ran the 50/50 draw which allowed the winners to choose a gift bag of their choice – each of the gifts bags contained donations for various activities in the Foothills Area. The proceeds from this event were $900.00.
The production of such a concert has huge costs attached to it and all of the proceeds go to support the Association once expenses are paid. With the support of a few donations the association made $1250.00. These funds will go to ensure already existing programs will continue to support families and the community.
Our family members find it difficult to do fundraising but this is one event that is able to be done in a family way. Our volunteer parents are able to bring their children with them and celebrate the time of year as well as enjoy the wonderful talent of so many volunteers.
Lorraine Forsen, President of the Foothills SNAPS would like to say “Thank you” on behalf of the board and the families who will benefit from this wonderful charity event.
All the best to everyone as we welcome this New Year – 2008! For more information about SNAPS please contact 603-3232.
