Safeway We Care Fundraising Program a Success for local Charity

The Okotoks Safeway Team chose
the Foothills Special Needs Association for Parents and
Siblings(Foothills SNAPS) as their charity of choice for the 2008 year.
Foothills SNAPS provides connections, access, and awareness to families
through various means: referrals, one to one contact, workshops,
conference events, communications, and resources. Families who are
living with a family member who has special needs are always welcome at
SNAPS. SNAPS is unique in
that it supports all areas of need from Asthma, Aspergers, Autism, ADHD
to Williams Syndrome and everything in between, including gifted and
talented. We cover the area of
The Fundraising began on January
26th and ended on March 30th. The staff of Safeway
was excellent when it came to promoting the charity and raising the
funds. The Safeway Team Captain was Christine Sisson with the Co Captain
being Carolyn Black. Volunteers included Safeway staff, Foothills SNAPS
board members, families who have accessed the service of SNAPS and
community members from the Okotoks and High River FCSS Volunteer
service.
Foothills SNAPS was presented with a cheque for $10,572.00 on June 12th. President Lorraine Forsen is quoted as saying “These funds will go a long way to ensuring the programs of SNAPS will continue to be available to the Foothills Area. The Association is very grateful for these funds and is honored to have been chosen this year as it is the last year for the WE CARE program as Safeway looks a other fundraising goals for the future.”
